Jesus said in John 14:1 “Don’t let your hearts be troubled”. But it is not easy these days to not to have a troubled heart.

Our hearts are troubled as we witness mass shootings after mass shootings, after mass shootings with no end in sight.  Our hearts are troubled as war rages in Sudan, Ukraine, and countless places around the globe.  Our hearts are troubled as racism, environmental destruction, and political extremism have become the order of the day.

Into our troubled hearts comes Jesus.  Jesus who reminds that He has prepared a place for us that we can take solace in not only in this life but in the life to come. Jesus who helps us make sense of this troubled world reminding us that He is the way, and the truth and the life.  Jesus who will grant us the peace our troubled heart has been seeking because He told us “If in my name you ask me for anything, I will do it.”

So today with so much to be troubled about let’s not our hearts be troubled.  We are not troubled because Jesus has come into our hearts.
